We’re very excited to share that we have three fantastic records coming out this Friday, July 13th, for Barnes & Noble’s Vinyl Weekend. All three albums will be available in limited quantities on color vinyl, exclusively at Barnes & Noble. Black vinyl editions of each record will be widely available later this year. See below for the details of each release, and enjoy your Vinyl Weekend!
Never before been pressed to vinyl, Shirley Horn’s Softly is reflective of the album’s late night recording sessions at Peirre Sprey’s home recording studio in rural Maryland. With her sidemen Charles Ables (bass) and Steve Williams (percussion) gathered into a quaint, pastoral living room full of recording equipment, the trio tracked until dawn. The album was remastered for vinyl at Infrasonic Mastering and pressed on audiophile-grade red color vinyl at Pallas Group in Germany.
Time In is last release of Dave Brubeck’s ‘Time’ series, and is often referred to as one of the pianist’s most dynamic and adventurous records. Every composition of the of the set was written by Brubeck, two tunes of which were co-written with his wife, Lola. This will be the first available pressing of the album since the 1960’s. The record was remastered for vinyl by Grammy award-winning engineer Bernie Grundman, and pressed on audiophile-grade yellow color vinyl at Pallas Group in Germany.
Les Paul’s resume is hard to top. Paul was a self-taught guitarist, specializing in jazz, country, and blues. He was also a prominent songwriter, luthier, and inventor. After You’ve Gone features an impressive twenty eight songs recorded by Les Paul & His Trio between 1944-1945. The double LP was remastered at Infrasonic Mastering, and pressed on vinyl for the first time ever at Pallas Group in Germany. The Barnes & Noble edition comes on transparent yellow and pink vinyl.
