We’re thrilled to announce our reissue of the incredible album, Primal Prayer, by legendary Canadian/American singer, composer, and transgender activist, Beverly Glenn-Copeland. Originally released in 2004 under the moniker ‘Phynix,’ these 8 tracks are dynamically and rhythmically complex, and creatively fuse a plethora of genres such as jazz, classical, and world music.
Throughout a 50 year recording career, the music of Beverly Glenn-Copeland has been hailed as brilliantly genre defying. The diverse work of Glenn-Copeland has been gaining recognition steadily over the past few years with reissues of his earlier records such as Keyboard Fantasies (1986) and a self-titled record (1970) returning to stores. We’re honored to be a part of this stellar musical career, and involved with this extraordinary album.
The album will be available on LP and CD beginning Friday, August 16th. Pre-order the album here, or pick up a copy from your local independent record store on release date.
This summer Glenn will undertake the most extensive tour of his 75 years including shows at Montreal Jazz Festival, Winnipeg Jazz Festival, Vancouver Jazz Festival, Saskwatchewan Jazz Festival, Kingston Pride and Folk On The Rocks and headline shows in Toronto and Victoria, BC.
