Planet Chernobyl. Poem, libretto, opera. There’s more than one Planet Chernobyl. You’ll find that here, in the words of poet Charles Plymell, the vision of bassist Mike Watt and the orchestrations of singer/composer Petra Haden. Plymell’s words chronicle the horrific Chernobyl disaster of 1986. After finding the heavy subject matter very moving, Watt and Haden were inspired to put the words to music in order to share them with the world. Planet Chernobyl will be available on vinyl on 6/16, with cover artwork by Tanya Haden.
Dreamer's Ball is the latest project from drummer Jack Irons. His virtuosic drumming is on full display, and accented with synths to create its own sonic world. This 5 passage experimental release is available now digitally, with a vinyl release to follow in 2023.

Introducing the self-titled debut from cosmic rock 'n rollers Color Green! This seasoned duo is comprised of Noah Kohll (Surf Curse, Current Joys, Young Guv, and more) and Corey Madden ( Richard Rose, Grave Flowers Bongo Band). Color Green formed in Ridgewood, Queens in 2018. Their sound culls from the eternal solitude of working musicians, the feeling of infinite transition, and the need to create a space that transmits the strange sounds of American music. Pulling from the Allman Brothers, Acetone, the Grateful Dead, and other acts from the dusty storage boxes of their attics, Color Green are searchers for a continuation of classic songwriting through the use of collaboration and close examination of the relics of yesterday’s past, while maintaining the spirit of their present selves. This co-release with Aquarium Drunkard will be unleashed upon the world on 7/22/2022, available on LP, CD, and digitally.

"Take It Away" is the most recent album from Memphis-based guitarist Mario Monterosso. The Italian-born songwriter showcases his formidable talent across these 12 tracks, blending elements of jazz, rockabilly, surf, and tango into the perfect soundtrack for a warm Summer evening. Standout track 'Midnight In Memphis' finds his frequent collaborator Tav Falco showing up to contribute spoken word vocals, marking the only non-instrumental track on the record. With "Take It Away," Monterosso crafts a sound that is familiar, yet completely authentic.

David Hillyard & The Rocksteady 7 are back with their first LP since their 2018 album, The Giver. The new album, "Plague Doctor," blends the Rocksteady 7’s signature sound, which combines elements of American jazz and Jamaican influences, with classic Brazilian rhythms and themes. The Rocksteady 7 features some of the best players in the current ska and reggae scene, including members of NYC ska staples The Slackers and percussionist Larry McDonald (Toots & The Maytals, Gil Scott-Heron. Jack Irons may be best known as a founding member of Red Hot Chili Peppers and former member of Pearl Jam, even being inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the former, but that only scratches the surface of his credits. Irons, a drummer and multi-instrumentalist, has recorded and toured with the likes of Joe Strummer, The Wallflowers, Les Claypool, Neil Young, and many others. As a solo artist with three albums and two EPs under his belt, Irons stretches out into new territory, taking a more experimental approach which showcases his unique talents both as a composer and player. Such is the case on his latest EP, Koi Fish In Space.

Album Release Date is September 24th Over 60 releases and 44 years into his career as a jazz drummer and composer, William Hooker has made (arguably) his best album yet during the pandemic in 2020, a follow up to his critically acclaimed 2019 album “Symphonie of Flowers". Clocking in at 83 minutes in total (depending on the format you’re listening to), “Big Moon” is as expansive as it is groundbreaking. With a reputation as one of the most innovative composers and drummers of his generation, for those in the know, Hooker does not disappoint on this latest work. Supported by a dynamic group of players which varies throughout the piece, Hooker weaves elements of spiritual and avant-garde jazz with tropical rhythms through eleven movements of the meditative journey that is “Big Moon”; a work that should be ingested and contemplated as one body of work. The release was mastered by Dave Gardner at Infrasonic Mastering.

"Do you feel well? How does it feel to hear that, to ask yourself that? Well, it’s felt weird to me for a long time. If I hear about your feelings, or am asked about mine, I barely know what you’re talking about. I don’t feel well".
This is a wild time. This album was made during and amongst some very new experiences. I hope it captures some of how it felt durning this period. I’ll feel better when this is behind us.

Pluralone (pronounced ""plural one"") is the solo project of multi- instrumentalist and songwriter Josh Klinghoffer, whose debut album ‘To Be One With You’ was released in November 2019. This single, ""Nowhere I Am"" b/w “Directrix"", is the third in a series of b-side releases from those album sessions. Klinghoffer is joined by former bandmate Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and drummer Jack Irons on ""Nowhere I Am”, but takes on all other duties himself across both songs.
William Hooker has been recognized as one of the most innovative musicians and drummers of his generation, leading a variety of ensembles within the worlds of free jazz, experimental, and new music. Hooker's prior collaborators range from avant garde jazz musicians to indie rock legends like Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth. On his latest work, “Symphonie of Flowers”, Hooker weaves three sections into a whole, or a “symphonie” of sorts. As he says, “the piece begins and ends with the drum…my instrument. Its rhythm and variations of timbre are the stabilizing element.”
