While its makers are firmly rooted in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s DIY independent music scene, Samuel S.C.’s debut LP High Places is very much a product of the present. Featuring eight songs of varying tempo and intensity, High Places is bound by assured, contemplative lyrics and propulsive grooves, all delivered in equal parts gritty, graceful precision. Several tracks are reimagined 90’s Samuel originals, the remaining were concocted fresh by the newly configured group between 2021 and 2022. High Places burns and sways with a contemporary-yet-timeless energy that will satisfy both contemporary emo-pop listeners and older fans of vintage indie/punk/hardcore.

The Color Green EP is 20 minutes of lysergic, countercultural Americana haze where tendrils of weeping steel guitar drip through latticeworks of quicksilver guitar leads under dozy stacks of cloudy vocal harmonies. Produced entirely by Kohll, the four track EP was recorded on a Tascam 488 at various locations across the country and features a cast of freaks: Coley Gold, Alex Amini, Eric Carney and John “Catfish” DeLorme. This release will be available on green vinyl as a 12" EP.

94-95 anthologizes the seven songs from the now-classic Samuel EP and 7"s released by Art Monk Construction and Simba Records in the mid-nineties. This brief-but-essential collection of post-hardcore/emo/indie rock archival material sounds as timely and fresh as it did during the pivotal time the songs were recorded. 94-95 fits in nicely alongside releases by Texas Is the Reason, The Promise Ring, Christie Front Drive and others from that influential era, now being discovered by a new generation of emo and punk fans. Remixed from the original analog masters by Benjamin Green and remastered by Levi Seitz, 94-95 will be available on all digital streaming services on November 3rd, and on vinyl on February 17th 2023. The band will celebrate the release of both 94-95 and High Places with a series of live performances, TBA.

"Atenção!: Novos Sons do Brasil” (Attention! New Sounds of Brazil) is a compilation produced in collaboration between online audio journal Aquarium Drunkard and Org Music. This is not your typical Brazilian music compilation. These ten songs capture a new wave of musicians who are reinterpreting their country’s musical heritage in bold and divergent ways, generations removed from the familiar sounds of breezy bossas or psychedelic tropicália. While these songs don’t sound like bossa nova or Tropicália, they share the tradition of cultural collision, mashing styles from abroad and home indiscriminately, tearing down genre barriers. The release features the artwork of celebrated visual artist Robbie Simon, and includes an insert with extensive liner notes by Brazilian music scholar Allen Thayer.

Mia Doi Todd follows up her acclaimed album 'Music Life' with a set of stellar remixes, entitled 'Ten Views of Music Life.' Described by Dusted Magazine as "one of those artists that seem to function not just as creators in their own right, but as connecting links between other musicians," Mia did not need to look far to find world-class artists to remix her songs. The diversity of the resulting collection is also its strength. Despite a wide range of stylistic methodologies employed, the project feels cohesive and creates the impression of a magical world uniting around the purity of expression in Mia's voice. Her vocals and other elements from the original 'Music Life' tracks find themselves enveloped in entirely new landscapes, from Dntel's quirky electro-pop, to Julia Holter and Tashi Wada's pensive and heartfelt orchestration, to the inimitable, free-form disco-boogie touch of Georgia Anne Muldrow. There's an Afrobeat contribution from LA's Jungle Fire and a cinematic kaleidoscope from Carlos Nin~o & Friends, featuring Jamael Dean and Sharada Shashidhar. Brazilian producer Kassin gives a fresh twist to Mia's version of Gregory Isaacs' classic "If I Don't Have You." Pianist Vardan Ovsepian's brooding yet hopeful arrangement of "Take Me to the Mountain" ventures into the hills and valleys of sound, cradling Mia’s rich voice in subtle reharmonizations. The album includes contributions from some of Mia's longtime collaborators, such as Dntel and Carlos Nin~o, as well as from a younger generation of musicians, such as the brilliant up-and-coming producer Jamael Dean (here as Jira><, in addition to his keyboard work with Carlos) and Human Error Club (featuring Mekala Session of the Pan Afrikan Peoples Arkestra on drums). The cover artwork by Kozyndan portrays Mia as Benzaiten, goddess of music in the Japanese pantheon, with a wink to the Greek vase painting style of the cover of 'Music Life' - a visual remix, itself, of Mia's original artwork.

This superior reissue combines together two sessions led by vibraphonist Milt Jackson. The first side of Plenty, Plenty Soul, which features a nine-piece group, is highlighted by the contributions of the exuberant altoist Cannonball Adderley, while the flip side has a sextet that is not hurt by the solos of tenor-saxophonist Lucky Thompson. With pianist Horace Silver helping out on both sessions, these all-star dates still sound fresh and enthusiastic decades later. Mastered from original analog tapes and pressed on 180 gram vinyl, this is THE essential pressing of this classic album.
Introducing the self-titled debut from cosmic rock 'n rollers Color Green! This seasoned duo is comprised of Noah Kohll (Surf Curse, Current Joys, Young Guv, and more) and Corey Madden ( Richard Rose, Grave Flowers Bongo Band). Color Green formed in Ridgewood, Queens in 2018. Their sound culls from the eternal solitude of working musicians, the feeling of infinite transition, and the need to create a space that transmits the strange sounds of American music. Pulling from the Allman Brothers, Acetone, the Grateful Dead, and other acts from the dusty storage boxes of their attics, Color Green are searchers for a continuation of classic songwriting through the use of collaboration and close examination of the relics of yesterday’s past, while maintaining the spirit of their present selves. This co-release with Aquarium Drunkard will be unleashed upon the world on 7/22/2022, available on LP, CD, and digitally.

Description:
Time In is last release of Dave Brubeck’s ‘Time’ series, and is often referred to as one of the pianist’s most dynamic and adventurous records. The 1966 studio album ranges from alluring ballads to driving hard bop, with intricate solos strewn about from each player. Every composition of the of the set was written by Brubeck, two tunes of which were co-written with his wife, Lola. While Time In is said to have been Brubeck’s least commercial record of the time period, critics have regarded it as one of his “finest moments on Columbia.” This will be the first available pressing of the zestful album since the 1960’s. The album was remastered for vinyl by Grammy award-winning engineer Bernie Grundman, and pressed on audiophile-grade vinyl at Pallas Group in Germany.

John Coltrane's final album for Atlantic bookends the exploratory motifs he explores on his Impulse! debut, Africa/Brass,recorded concurrently, with each involving knotty rhythmic shifts and Spanish-derived textures. Bonding with an amazing band that includes pianist McCoy Tyner, drummer Elvin Jones, and an uncredited Eric Dolphy (due to contractual reasons), Coltrane welcomes improvisations and ranging outside conventional parameters, all the while retaining melodic beauty. Yet the biggest attraction on the 1961 effort comes via the double-bass interplay between Art Davis and Reggie Workman, whose back-and-forth exchanges produce heat and cause the leader to up his own game. Mastered from the original master tapes, this dead-quiet 180g 45RPM 2LP set presents each pluck of the acoustic basses with tremendous body and decay. Long overdue for audiophile treatment, Olé Coltrane is ready for its closeup, and how.
Description: Recorded live in July of 1967 at the legendary Jazzhus Montmartre in Copenhagen, this selection finds tenor-saxophonist Dexter Gordon and his quartet (pianist Kenny Drew, bassist Niels Pederson and drummer Albert “Tootie” Heath) in top form. Two of the standards on this hard-swinging set (But Not for Me & Take the‘A’ Train) are over ten minutes long, allowing Gordon to stretch out creatively. The historic recording finally gets its vinyl debut with this 180gram audiophile-grade Pallas pressing.

Palisades is the sophomore album from Eric Slick. Originally released in 2017, the album is steeped in psychedelia and often features a noticeably darker sound than his other work. Accented by reverb-drenched bursts of guitar and colorful synths, the record takes the listener on an introspective journey influenced by his experiences with meditation and dream therapy. The 8-song collection showcases Slick coming into his own as a songwriter, with Relix magazine calling it “sublime.” Now ORG Music is bringing the title to vinyl for the first time, available widely on silver color vinyl.

Hailing from the heart of the matter – Omaha, Neb. – M34N STR33T draws inspiration from the high and the low, the ephemeral and the dead real. Rap, hip hop, and jazz influences are as essential to their music as skateboarding, horror movies, late nights, and the social reckonings happening in our streets. The ten tracks on their newest LP “Besos” see the two-piece – composed of producer Haunted Gauntlet and emcee Conny Franko – pushing themselves in new directions lyrically and musically. Verses exploring themes of joy, loss, and rage glide and jab over a sonic landscape that references and reassembles the sounds of the times.
“Besos” is a message in a bottle, a come-to-Jesus, a cry in the night, a Dear Jean, and above all a love letter – sealed with a kiss.
The record comes housed in a gatefold jacket and includes a 24x36" fold-out poster.

Lovely Music chronicles the early days of Ivan Mairesse’s Sagittaire project, pulling from material written between 2015 and 2017 in San Francisco, where Mairesse recorded the album before moving back to his hometown of Los Angeles. Mairesse takes an introspective approach to songwriting on Lovely Music, juxtaposing dark lyrics with lush pop arrangements and a tender vocal delivery. Originally self-released in 2020 solely in digital form, the album gets a new life with this vinyl release, a joint venture between Org Music and Aquarium Drunkard. While this 2017 recording will be an introduction to Sagittare for most, Mairesse has written and recorded a wealth of new material in the subsequent years, varying in style and genre, so you can expect to hear more from him soon.

Putting the World to Rights will be available on vinyl and digital formats beginning August 19th, courtesy of ORG Music.

My friends…I’m sorry, but when the This Is The Show vinyl arrived, I caught one mistake in the design that was bothersome, but excusable considering how long it’s taken for these to arrive, but upon further inspection (which should have happened already) a typo was found.
Perhaps I’ve made a rash decision, but we are delaying the release and shipping of the vinyl for these two mistakes to be fixed. My apologies.
It’s a symptom of the times perhaps that everything seems to be backed up, take longer and almost miss their moments, but I cannot feel good about releasing this album I’m quite proud of with even the tiniest mistake. I was about to, but two…no. Again, there may be lessons to be learned here about perfectionism and dealing with the fact that mistakes happen and sometimes things are beyond one’s control…but in this case…they are. So it’s being fixed.
For those few of you that got a copy. Hold on to them, they’ll be rare.

While best known for his work with The Pop Group, Rip Rig + Panic, and Head, the new album showcases Sager's formidable skills as a pianist and composer. Recorded in Studio 1 at the famous Abbey Road studios, Ghost Ship Trance Lamentations finds Sager backed by bassist Debs Spanton, cellist Lisa Watchorn, and frequent collaborator Dave Wright on saxophone. The quartet creates a lush and soothing sonic palette across 15 piano-driven miniatures. Ghost Ship Trance Lamentations will be available on vinyl and CD beginning July 15th from ORG Music.

Jack Irons may be best known as a founding member of Red Hot Chili Peppers and former member of Pearl Jam, even being inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the former, but that only scratches the surface of his credits. Irons, a drummer and multi-instrumentalist, has recorded and toured with the likes of Joe Strummer, The Wallflowers, Les Claypool, Neil Young, and many others. As a solo artist with three albums and two EPs under his belt, Irons stretches out into new territory, taking a more experimental approach which showcases his unique talents both as a composer and player. This 12” vinyl release combines his 2019 EP “Dream of Luminous Blue” and the brand new “Koi Fish In Space” EP, with on EP per side. Includes digital download of the "Koi Fish In Space" EP.

The record features Cohen & Jennings performing almost every instrument on the album, flute by Cochemea Gastelum (Beck, The Roots, St. Vincent), and backup vocals by Brianna Leary. His sound can be compared to modern artists such as Andy Shauf, Rostam, and Sam Evian. Pressed on milky clear color vinyl.

Adam Green and Kimya Dawson originally crossed paths at an open mic night in Mount Kisco, New York in the early 90s. From there they went on to record a surplus of home recordings with various friends under the moniker The Moldy Peaches, and eventually became staples in the NYC anti-folk scene of the late 90’s/ early 2000’s. After releasing several albums that gained traction in the U.S. and UK, the group broke into the mainstream when their song “Anyone Else But You” appeared in the hit indie film “Juno” (2007).
Origin Story: 1994-1999 is a collection of songs, unreleased demos, live tracks, and poems from the early years of The Moldy Peaches, and outline the tale of how the band came to be. Liner notes written by Adam and Kimya detail the stories behind each track and rare photos included in the packaging help to illustrate the life and times of the duo when they were young.

Skywriting is the latest full length album from Zachary Cale, primarily recorded at Black Dirt Studio by Jason Meagher in upstate New York. As Cale’s seventh studio record, Skywriting takes on a new focus for the seasoned songwriter, pivoting to more of a band-focused rock album. Inspired by many years on the road, the songs that make up the album depict characters in a state of perpetual motion, or better yet a constant state of becoming. The gamble and sacrifice that one makes in pursuit of their art is felt in just about every line. Many of the songs reflect on time spent traveling between cities, being away from loved ones, introspective moments in motel rooms, green rooms, and long stretches of highway.

David Hillyard & The Rocksteady 7 are back with their first LP since their 2018 album, The Giver. Lee “Scratch” Perry). Includes digital download of the album.

David Hillyard & The Rocksteady 7 are back with their first release since their 2018 album, The Giver. The new seven inch single "The Frog” — Hillyard’s reinterpretation of João Donato’s "A Rã” — is the first glimpse at the group’s upcoming album, Plague Doctor, which is due out this summer. The single, like the album it precedes, blends the Rocksteady 7’s signature sound, which combines elements of American jazz and Jamaican influences, with classic Brazilian rhythms and themes. The Rocksteady 7 features some of the best players in the current ska/reggae scene, including members of NYC ska staples The Slackers and percussionist Larry McDonald (Toots & The Maytals, Gil Scott-Heron. Lee “Scratch” Perry). Fittingly, “The Frog” comes on green color vinyl, with the full track split between two sides. Includes digital download of both tracks.
Estimated Ship Date is December 17th Over 60 releases and 44 years into his career as a jazz drummer and composer, William Hooker has made (arguably) his best album yet during the pandemic in 2020, a follow up to his critically acclaimed 2019 album “Symphonie of Flowers". Clocking in at 83 minutes in total (depending on the format you’re listening to), “Big Moon” is as expansive as it is groundbreaking. With a reputation as one of the most innovative composers and drummers of his generation, for those in the know, Hooker does not disappoint on this latest work. Supported by a dynamic group of players which varies throughout the piece, Hooker weaves elements of spiritual and avant-garde jazz with tropical rhythms through eleven movements of the meditative journey that is “Big Moon”; a work that should be ingested and contemplated as one body of work. The release was mastered by Dave Gardner at Infrasonic Mastering, comes housed in a gatefold jacket, and features poetry from William Hooker. Includes digital download.

"As the year 2020 approached, a number of exciting plans were in the works for me to continue my yearlong 80th Birthday Tour that had successfully kicked off on May 26th, 2019. But on February 2nd , 2020, I played my one & only concert of the year! Because in March of 2020, the worldwide shutdown and ban of all live musical performances sadly became a way of life. Music, and live music in particular, is one of the true phenomenons of our very existence, so to have it eliminated effects each and every one of us leaving a void and disrupting & severing some of the most vital elements of the human spirit! On a personal level & due to my DNA I was compelled to seek out a solution for me to remain creative, positive and sane! So in September of 2020, after spending 5 agonizing months in isolation and musical lock down, I decided to uplift my spirits by launching a solo recording project. I wasn’t sure how I would do it, or even if I were in enough shape to do it. I dug down deep for strength & the courage that was needed to began the process of creating a lasting piece of Art After discussing the idea with some of my close fans and friends , I was inspired to precede; the problem though was ,with the exception of playing a couple of numbers one night at a beautiful gathering in Malibu , I hadn’t played with anyone in 5 months, so it still took a lot of soul searching to actually go forward! Time is a ever changing ever evolving never ceasing constant, In the 1970’s I composed a album entitled “The Time Is Now”, so once again time is the theme, motivation & inspiration for a Phil Ranelin project All of the positive flow of energy and love that surrounded me, gave me the courage to precede with the idea of recording a album that would represent a 2020 version of myself; “INFINITE EXPRESSIONS” is in fact , a true labor of Love! So with guidance from the ultimate source, the most high, I was able to complete the project that hopefully you are listening to right now! All of my life I have had spiritual guidance & protection that has allowed me to stay the course and persevere, this project is no different! THANK YOU GOD!"

Eric Slick's 2020 studio album, Wiseacre, has gained extensive critical acclaim since dropping via his own Slick Records last August. A follow up to his 2017 debut LP, Palisades, Wiseacre comes across as a focused, euphoric collection of indie-pop gems with a cast of all-star players. Featuring performances by Steven Drozd (Flaming Lips), music producer Butch Walker, and Natalie Prass (Slick's wife and renowned art-pop singer) the dreamy, sparkling sound of Wiseacre carries throughout the album's 10 tracks. Moonlighting for his day job as Dr. Dog's drummer, Eric Slick has become a breakout indie pop star with a gift to churn out catchy but intimate hits time after time. "Impression" is a carousel ride through time with the Bonnie & Clyde of psych-pop, where classic meets contemporary. Sugar Candy Mountain gallops seamlessly from tripped out Tropicália, Shuggie Otis inspired grooves, kaleidoscopic psych jams, classic 70's reverie, and nods to krautrock without ever skipping a beat. Along the way Reiter's honeyed voice hovers seductively between breaking and beauty, taking us on a sensational ride through the ups and downs of apocalyptic visions, tender sunlit musings on love, and deep gazes of self reflection. Available on vinyl and CD starting May 28th via ORG Music.

This project - two songs, "Cats" and "Funny Face" (A-side/B-side) bring together the sophisticated song craft of singer-songwriter Johnny O'Donnell, the iconoclast arrangements of Van Dyke Parks, and the genial production touch of Lewis Pesacov into a refreshing and rewarding musical package that deserves the focus that only a seven inch provides. The arrangements and production are cinematic and full of drama which befits a production born of the belly of Hollywood. Romance, intrigue, and a touch of the unreal is where the tripartite of musical craftsmen have brewed this potion of melodies. Previously only available for Record Store Day 2021, this release is now widely available on purple color vinyl.

Jesus. People. Music. That was the sequence of things. First the faith, experiencing a revival in the Summer of Love. Then, people gathered in song, raising their voices over the rock & roll sounds that came naturally to them. All along the West Coast, then throughout the country, tiny fires of the Holy Spirit began catching among longhaired youths. Their fellow hippies labeled these countercultural Christians “Jesus Freaks,” but before long, Jesus People were self-identifying using the term.
‘The End Is At Hand’ is the first volume in a series of compilations that exemplify the sound of the Jesus People movement of the 1960’s and 70’s in America. From Spokane, Washington to northern New Jersey, devoted musical groups were embracing the psychedelic overtones of the bohemian lifestyle, and intertwining their faith with the spirit of the times. The need to proclaim the End of Days produced some of the most fiery music of the genre—fuzzy hymns backed by cosmic choirs and heavy psych populated with frightening scenes from the Book of Revelation—but the songbook and its lyrical focus was varied, populated with lo-fi loner folk, simmering with yearning hope, and tripped out countrified songs about eternal devotion as well.

The Chi-Lites’ third album, "(For God's Sake) Give More Power to the People”, finds the group tapping into the social consciousness movement of the early ‘70s, presumably influenced by contemporaries like Sly & the Family Stone and fellow Chicagoan Curtis Mayfield. They had one of sweetest voices in soul music with Eugene Record, but their 1971 release showed a different side of the band, both in terms of lyrical content and production on tracks like "We Are Neighbors”. Ironically, the biggest single on the album was "Have You Seen Her?”, a sweet soul ballad which topped the R&B charts. "(For God's Sake) Give More Power to the People” was the best album the Chi-Lites ever released, and it’s finally coming back to vinyl for the first time in decades. The music sounds better than ever on this 180gram audiophile-grade vinyl pressing, mastered from original analog tapes.

The story of this compilation begins with a decades old myth; the "mystery singer" on a 10" acetate demo played to Elvis by Sam Phillips in June of 1954. Phillips, who was unable to ascertain the name of the singer, asked Elvis to sing the song as a debut record. The young, unknown Elvis was daunted by the performance. After attempting to record the song, Elvis felt he could not do it justice, and went on to record “That's All Right”. The demo's existence became an urban myth. The singer was finally identified as Jimmy Sweeney in early 2017 by writer Chris Kennedy, whose suspicions were confirmed by multiple sources, including Jimmy's daughter Eugenia. Sweeney’s masterpiece will finally be released under his own name on this compilation. In addition to “Without You”, the album features some of Sweeney’s best recordings, many of which were never released to the public.

While there haven’t been many silver linings from the hellish year that has been 2020, we can definitively point to one: Dream Sitch, a collaboration between frequent co-conspirators Michael Nau (Cotton Jones, Page France) and Seth Kauffman (Floating Action). The pair wrote, recorded, and mixed the self-titled debut for their new project remotely during quarantine; ten songs in just ten days. The release showcases the strength of both songwriters and multi-instrumentalists in a unique way, using their tools and talents to craft a beautiful album, so cohesive that it’s hard to imagine them working from afar. The vinyl comes as a co-release from labels PIAPTK (People In A Place To Know) and Org Music.

As Sunny War's newest masterpiece, Simple Syrup has a vibrant, loose feel, more focused on the interplay with the musicians than ever before. Sunny’s new songs touch on everything from romance to politics, jumping easily between larger concepts like the expectations for famous Black women in American art (“Like Nina”) and smaller ideas like “Kiss A Loser”, her ode to her own drunken self in relationships. Surrounded by relentless pressures from societal change, Sunny worked more closely with her community and embarked on a nearly year-long recording spree that brought two EPs (one of which, Can I Sit With You?, made a number of Best of 2020 lists) and now Simple Syrup. The pandemic has been a crucible for Sunny, burning away the parts of the old world that didn’t truly matter and leaving her with a new purpose.
Recorded in Venice, CA at Hen House Studios.
Produced by Harlan Steinberger.
Mastered at Bernie Grundman Mastering Studios.

Velvert Turner is largely known for being a protégé and student of Jimi Hendrix, who he met as a teenager in New York in the late ‘60s. The influence is immediately clear, with respect to both Turner’s guitar work and vocals. Some have even mistaken his only album for a “lost” Hendrix recording, and it’s hard to blame them. Velvert Turner Group’s self-titled 1972 release, which aptly closes with a tribute to Hendrix (a cover of “Freedom”), has been out of print for decades. Now it’s coming back to vinyl with a pink color pressing, mastered from original analog tapes. This reissue features an alternate mix of the first song, “Madonna (of the Seven Moons)”, as a bonus track.
